Antique steel-plate engraving depicting a triple-decked ship-of-the-line with its related rigging and equipment.

Johann Georg Heck (1795 - 1857) was a German bookseller and publisher, lithographer, and cartographer. Heck's works include: "The art of building in ancient and modern times, or, architecture illustrated."; "Iconographic encyclopaedia of science, literature, and art. (Six volumes)"; "Illustrations to mathematics and astronomy"; and "The sciences, or, Chemistry, mineralogy, and geology illustrated."
