DESCRIPTION: Rare, overlooked 1967 original historic-pictorial map of Charleston, S.C. by artist Marie Fenner, Olde South Galleries, Charleston, South Carolina. Of the six historic-pictorial maps of South Carolina towns that are attributed to Fenner, this item (1967) is the earliest.
A tourist-oriented map of Charleston, the Queen City, full of sketches of local architecture and interesting details of the city. The map's border is surrounded with drawings of local and regional historical scenes including:

- The Old Citadel- Charleston's Arsenal

Copyright 1967 by Old South Galleries. 2nd printing. This second printing ca. 1967 adds the Gallery's Charleston address next to the copyright date at bottom left: 64 Society Street, Charleston, S.C. 29401. The address is absent in the 1st printing copy held by the University of South Carolina.

Fenner, Marie
No personal information about Marie Fenner is available online today and the Olde South Gallery has disappeared. The single reference to Fenner I could find is a 1970 article on Columbia, S,C. "Historic Landmarks" (2) Fenner published in the Sandlapper: the Magazine of South Carolina.
