Sanibel Island, a beautiful barrier island located off the coast of Fort Myers in Florida, is known for its stunning beaches, lush wildlife, and laid-back atmosphere. The island is home to the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, a 5,200-acre sanctuary that protects mangrove forests, seagrass beds, and a diverse array of bird species. The island's marinas, such as Tarpon Bay Marina and Sanibel Marina, serve as gateways to the surrounding waters, providing access to fishing charters, boat rentals, and eco-tours. The Island Belle, a popular excursion boat, offers visitors the opportunity to explore the waters around Sanibel and Captiva Islands, showcasing the area's diverse marine life, including dolphins, manatees, and a variety of fish species.

For those seeking a more luxurious experience, Casa Ybel Resort offers beachfront accommodations, fine dining, and a range of activities, including golf, tennis, and spa treatments. The resort's location on the southern end of Sanibel Island provides easy access to the island's top attractions, such as the Sanibel Lighthouse and the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum. With its combination of natural beauty, outdoor activities, and upscale amenities, Sanibel Island is a perfect destination for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in the tranquility of Florida's Gulf Coast.

William Harold Hancock
(1920 - 2006)

William Harold Hancock (1920-2006) was an American artist born in a small coal-mining town near Harrisburg, Illinois. From a young age, Hancock demonstrated a strong passion for art, winning a poster contest in the fourth grade despite having to drop out of first grade due to a bout with Typhoid Fever. He continued to pursue his artistic interests throughout his school years, taking four years of high school art classes.

During World War II, Hancock put his skills to use by painting outdoor illustrations and informative letterings for various military installations. After the war, he moved to Brown County, Indiana, where he built his studio and drew inspiration from the surrounding landscapes, wildlife, and architecture. Hancock's works often depicted the beauty of Brown County, from the streets of Nashville to the creeks, barns, churches, and covered bridges in the area.

Throughout his career, Hancock found joy in both the process of painting and the opportunity to please his collectors. He was known to use acrylics in his later works, rather than oils. Hancock passed away in his Nashville,Tennessee home on July 11, 2006, at the age of 85.
