DESCRIPTION: Interesting advertising map of Washington D.C. with numerous points of interest identified by number in two inset legends. Published for the Lee House Hotel, then at 15th and L Streets. Not dated but based on photographs of the automobiles on verso date is estimated as circa 1930. Mentions the American Automobile Association National Headquarters but no advertisement for the A.A.A. unlike a similar edition of the map.
Even at this early date traffic in Washington D.C. was an issue; the black lines on the map represent the proposed best automobile routes into the city, terminating at the Lee House Hotel. Verso with photographs and text describing the Lee House's Reduced Summer Rates (Room for two persons with bath for $3.00 - $3.50 and dinner staring at $ .75.)
