DESCRIPTION: Rare engraved chart from Coronelli's "Teatro della Guerra" shows the east coast of England (Provincia di West) from Portland Bill in Dorset to the Lizard in Cornwall. Features shown include Torbay, Dartmouth, the Isle of Wight and much more. A fine addition to any collection of coastal charts of England.

This small well-engraved antique chart is from the Isole Britanniche volume of the Teatro della Guerra.

Shows large and small railways some of which are now abandoned. <br></br> This map could be of interest for anyone with an interest in the Rails to Trails Conservancy or the Great American Rail-Trail initiative (a coast-to-coast multi-use trail of over 3,700 miles). Portions of this map includes abandoned tracks that are incorporated into that coast-to-coast trail including the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad (C. M. St. P and P.), now a part of the <b>Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail</b>. <br></br> Great detail and names of mountains in the Cascades Range including Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, and Mount Hood. Coverage extends past Seattle to Everett, Washington. <br></br> The Oregon Railroad and Navigation Company operated from 1896 after a consolidation of several smaller railroads. Union Pacific (UP) purchased a majority stake of the line in 1898. In 1910 the line became a subsidiary of UP titled the <b>Oregon–Washington Railroad and Navigation Company.</b> Union Pacific formally absorbed the smaller railway into its system in 1936. <br></br> Dated 1933 based on 2 other similar items purchased in the same lot, each from the Chief Engineer's Office. <br></br> In the 1930's, minor abandonments of the company's Oregon lines included the partial abandonment of the line to Homestead, as well as joint operation with the Spokane, Portland & Seattle of the Oregon Trunk railroad line from the Columbia River south to Bend. <br></br> Drawn by REB. A rare and informative map of the waterfront at south Rockland, Maine with a detailed record of shoreline and structures as they existed 150 years ago. <br></br> A few of the key features Rose noted include Mechanic Street, two marine railways and a marine railway wharf, apparently part of Snow Farwell & Co. The two octagonal building above the railways are almost certainly sheds for horse-powered winches. At bottom left a wharf surrounds <br></br> Snow Shipbuilding was founded in 1862 by Captain Israel Snow. It was located at the end of Mechanic Street, adjacent to the Cobb, Butler yard. The Snow family sold it to General Seafoods after WWII. The western half is now the Sail, Power and Steam Museum, while the eastern half is still active as Rockland Marine. <br></br> Location fronts on Owl's Head Bay; West Penobscot Bay. Shows a portion of Scotland at left; Northumberland (Northumbria), Cumbria (Cumberlandia) and Durham (Dunelmensis). Fifth state published by Philip Lea, Globemaker at ye Atlas and Hercules in Cheapside nere the corner of Fryday Street in London, [1687 - 1700]. <br></br> Philip Lea re-published Saxton's the map on a smaller scale designed to be used as a travelling map. He reduced the map to ten full sheets and four half sheets. This artifact consists of Lea's top two sheets laid side by side on vellum. <br></br> Verso shows English MS text legal document with a date of 1732 visible. Philip Lea re-engraved the plates at least five times during his period of ownership.
