DESCRIPTION: Scarce antique plan of La Rochelle from the military and maritime port atlas produced by French author Pierre Lemau de la Jaisse in 1736. Front contains a copperplate-engraved circular view of Brest harbor and fortifications and an armorial shield both inset into a woodblock-engraved frame of standardized design that is repeated across the series.
Verso contains a very brief history about the "Frontiere Moderne" village of Rochefort, its longitude and latitude, and a list of the major military and government officials including the Capitaine de Vaisseau and Capitaine de Port- M. de Bailliveau.
