This scarce original British Admiralty sea chart of the Florida east coast retains the look and feel of a fine late 19th-century chart. Chart coverage stretches southward from St. Andrew Sound, near Jekyll Island and Cumberland Island Georgia, to the St. John River, near Jacksonville, Florida. Includes the Cumberland Sound, St. Mary River, Amelia Island, Nassau River, and Jacksonville.

This fine nautical chart of the Florida coast was published at the Admiralty April 22, 1879 under the superintendence of Captain F.J. Evans. Sold by J.D. Potter. Engraved by Edward Weller. Chart number 853. Edition of 1916. Last minor correction in 1930.

It is one of the few rivers in the United States that flows north. The source of the river is a large marshy area in Indian River County that flows north and turns eastward at Jacksonville, FL to its mouth in the Atlantic Ocean. <br></br> From the second part of "Portolano de la America...", published in 1818 by Spain's Admiralty department, the Dirección de Hidrografía. In 1809 the Direccion first published this atlas of plans of bays, harbors, and ports from Spain’s New World possessions: "Portolano de la America Septentrional Construido en la Direccion de Trabajos Hidrograficos". The two books were intended for use only within the railway system and include: <div class="indenttextblocksingle"> <ul style="list-style-type: circle;"> <li>Northbound and southbound mainline of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Company between Richmond, Virginia and Jacksonville, Florida.</li> <li>Track charts of A. C. L. R. R. feeder lines including Dunnellon to Wilcox, Trilby to St. Petersburg, Uceta to Tampa, and other routes.</li> </ul> </div> By the Office of the Chief Engineer for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Company ca. 1938. Profiles are printed via the cyanotype process (blueprint). Verso blank. <br></br> The planning study by the Jacksonville Area Planning Board (JAPD), is a 174-page environmental and urban study of the 39-mile extent of the St. Johns River found in Duval County, Florida: the <b>St. Johns River Corridor</b>. The study contains over 40 detailed large-scale, sectional geographic maps and thematic maps for land use along the St. Johns River Corridor (e.g. Military, Recreational). Light card cover. <br></br> Based on an analysis of five environmental factors the JAPD recommended land usage-intensity levels. They proposed design guidelines, development and improvement proposals, and program recommendations for 21 sections of shoreline along the corridor.
