Established in 1896, by 1929 the Palm Beach Mercantile Company was Palm Beach County's largest and oldest hardware and furniture store. Published by the Fort Wayne Printing Co. of Fort Wayne, Indiana. <br></br> Map is Clason's Road Map of Florida with an inset map of the western end of the state. Map # R-240 AA. <br></br> The Palm Beach Mercantile Company is a historic site in West Palm Beach, Florida located at 206 Clematis Street. On January 28, 1994, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The Palm Beach Mercantile Company Building, was built as a single story, 2-room structure in Vernacular style in 1902. Three additional floors were added in 1916 and the partial sixth floor was added in 1923. The structure had the Palm Beach's first elevator. The Palm Beach Mercantile Company, the first large business block in the city, went out of business in the late 1950's. Today the site is known as the Harris Building. <br></br>
